Ok, how computer ignorant am I? I took me 10 minutes to figure out how to make a new post.
Here lately, I start worrying incessantly that I will not be able to be a good mom and student at the same time (especially when I hear stories from former nursing students). I want the end result, but I am terrified of functioning on little sleep and having to run such a tight ship.
I am a HUGE fan of hymns. I think "Be Still my Soul" might be my favorite. I am adding it here so I can look back and read the words when I start fretting about making it through nursing school.
Be Still, My Soul
1. Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain. Leave to thy God to order and provide; In every change, He faithful will remain. Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
2. Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake To guide the future, as He has the past. Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake; All now mysterious shall be bright at last. Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.
3. Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart, And all is darkened in the vale of tears,Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart, Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears. Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay From His own fullness all He takes away.
4. Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on When we shall be forever with the Lord. When disappointment, grief, and fear are gone,Sorrow forgot, love's purest joys restored.Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past, All safe and blessed we shall meet at last.
5. Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise On earth, believing, to thy Lord on high; Acknowledge Him in all thy works and ways,So shall He view thee with a well-pleased eye.Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

A new day and a new blog!
I thought I would start a blog. I have kept a journal at livejournal.com for nearly four years. Most of my posts are about my kids, and I like the privacy settings. I also wanted a place to journal about the road to becoming a nurse.
I am a 29 year old mother of three awesome children. I am blessed to have been a stay-at-home mommy for 5.5 years now. I planned on staying home with the children until the youngest went to kindergarten, but the Lord had other plans for our family. In May of 2007, my world came crashing in when my husband told me he wanted a divorce (shortened version of the story!). I was 7 months pregnant with our third child at the time. He moved out at the end of the year, and I immediately started figuring out what to do with my future. I have always been interested in medicine. I love reading medical articles and asking countless questions while at my children's pediatrician's office. Thus, the pursuit of a nursing degree began.
Last summer, I started back to school at Vol State. (I have a B.S. in psychology from Belmont University). I took one class each semester (and will take nutrition this summer). Full-time nursing school at Belmont starts at the end of August.
While I am very nervous about putting my kids in full-time daycare for the first time, I am also excited about starting school. It has been really neat and humbling to see the way the Lord has prepared the way for me in my nursing pursuit. He is making something beautiful out of something very broken.
I can't promise this will be a very interesting blog, but I wanted to have a way to document my progress along the way.
